GYOKURO | KYOTO - UJI

Tea type: Green Tea

Brand: Matcha Store Italia

How to prepare it: 1 minute and 30 seconds at 50°C (122 °F)

Where to buy: https://matchastore.it?ref=11

Dry scent:

Strong and gentle both at the same time, with huge sweet herbal notes. You can smell really well the chlorophyll' scent, but there is also something closer to wood. Really smooth and full-bodied.

Liquor's colour:

Greenish.

Liquor's scent:

Really consistent with its dry scet, but with more herbal notes now.

Taste:

It has a distinctive flavour, but still very smooth. At first it seems to be so strong that it shows a salty taste, which, combined with something closer to iodine, recalls quite a lot the sea/ocean. However there is something more, especially a sweet background made up of exotic ripe fruits - mango firstly - combined with the classical herbal notes of green japanese tea.. It leaves you a clean and light herbal aftertaste.

Conclusion:

Really a good, high quality, japanese green tea, with huge herbal notes combined towards many others different aromas. Strong and gentle, with really a distinctive flavour.

My score is: 8.5/10
