EARL GREY IVORY

Tea type: flavoured black tea

Brand: Compagnie du Samovar

How to prepare it: 3-4 minutes, 100 °C (212 °F)

Dry scent:

Immediatey a strong scent of lavender hit you with all its freshness. Then, in the background, a few notes of bergamot start to arise, giving an extra freshness to the brew with a few sour hints. This two aromas are perfectly mixed up , giving quite a thick scent.

Liquor's colour:

Brown.

Liquor's scent:

Really consistent as before, with strong lavender notes. However now, also the black tea used as a base starts to come out, adding some tannins.

Taste:

The main flavour is lavender without any doubts. The bergamot's aroma is a little bit covered, but it comes out both at the beginning and at the end. It leaves you a slightly sour and astringent aftertaste of citrus.

Conclusion:

A lavander scented earl grey which makes the lavender as its main flavour. Maybe the bergamot is too covered by it, giving the idea of a tea closer to a lavender flavoured black tea, rather than to an earl grey. In any case it's a truly enjoyable variant respect to the classic earl grey.

My score: 7.5/10
